Study for the Deliverance of St. Peter (After Raphael)
2012
The bronze sculpture Study for the Deliverance of St. Peter (After Raphael) was created by Brian Clarke in 2012. It is based on Clarke’s Studies for the Deliverance of St. Peter works on paper, transformed into volumetric forms in the round.
The work is inspired by Raphael’s fresco The Deliverance of Saint Peter from 1514, in which the shining silhouette of an angel is glimpsed through the bars of a prison cell.
