In his WORK series from 1984, Brian Clarke invokes the cross motif as well as the computergram. First introduced in his Early Cross Paintings series of 1978–1979 and Computergram Paintings series of 1980–1983, these motifs are reinterpreted in two large-scale canvases titled Work and London Arrival. Enlarged computergrams and crosses are presented alongside patterns of the same symbols.
