Constructivist Landscapes
1976
In 1976, Brian Clarke produced a series of paintings featuring constructivist landscapes. The compositions present geometrised views of landscapes, either from a frontal perspective or from above, and incorporate references to modernist architecture within a restrained tonal palette. Stylistically, these works are closely aligned with Clarke’s Tribute to Mies van der Rohe paintings from ‘The Tribute Paintings’ series, as well as the edition Derbyshire with Standing Stone and Mies van der Rohe Building.
