Derbyshire with Standing Stone and Mies van der Rohe Building
1977
In the mid-1970s, landscape emerged as a predominant theme in Brian Clarke’s work. During this period, Clarke also developed a strong interest in constructivist aesthetics and modernist architecture, particularly the work of German-American architect Mies van der Rohe. Clarke’s edition Derbyshire with Standing Stone and Mies van der Rohe Building features a landscape rendered in a constructivist style and idealised architectural forms, explicitly referencing van der Rohe’s designs.
