Brian Clarke: Collages is a collection of 327 collages created by Brian Clarke, presenting a medium that has been at the centre of his practice since Burnley School of Art, and which he often uses as studies for his stained glass.

The works shown in this book are inspired by nature and begin with line drawings of nasturtiums in white pencil on black paper, which Clarke began making in March 2022. Gradually, Clarke builds an ephemera of hand-painted paper cut-outs to produce compositions in bright colour.

The book features a foreword by HENI’s founder, Joe Hage, and an interview by Hans Ulrich Obrist, in which Clarke and Obrist discuss the influence of Clarke’s contemporaries and the intensely personal practice of his work in collage. It was published to coincide with Clarke’s major exhibition, Brian Clarke: A Great Light, at Newport Street Gallery, London in 2023.
