Designs for Stained Glass
2000
Brian Clarke created this series of designs for stained glass in 2000 while working on unrealised commissions for two modern buildings in London under construction: Holborn Place in Holborn and DS8 in Canary Wharf.
The designs feature diverse configurations, including vertical arrangements of three and two fleur-de-lys motifs or single flowers with elongated, cascading petals. In the series, Clarke explored different colour variations for the compositions.
These designs were intended to be adapted into monumental glass panels to be suspended inside the buildings and remain visible from the street through their clear glass façades.
