Autonomous Panels 1-3
1985
The Autonomous Panels series comprises three independent stained glass pieces produced by Brian Clarke in 1985. The works feature unique compositions incorporating some of Clarke’s signature motifs, including grids, crosses, computergrams and amorphs.
Deutsches Glasmalerei-Museum writes about Clarke's works:
"Strong color contrasts and clear forms are decisive design elements in Brian Clarke's work of the eighties and early nineties. In his free glass pictures, the autonomous panels, the so-called 'amorphs', formless structures that seem to float in free space, stand in exciting contrast to a strictly geometrical basic order."
All three of the Autonomous Panels works are in the Collection of Contemporary Stained Glass of the Stadtmuseum Langen in Germany.
