Brian Clarke's 2012 bronze sculpture Jacob’s Ladder consists of stacked calligraphic linear elements mounted on a flat sheet of bronze. Its title alludes to the biblical story of a ladder to heaven revealed in patriarch Jacob’s dream, as recounted in the Book of Genesis.
