Brian Clarke’s bronze sculpture Caesar Released from the Prison of Ambition was created is 2012 as a companion piece to Portia's Dream. It consists of a plinthless equilateral cross, with calligraphic lines rising atop its apex.
The sculpture references in its title William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, and the line that accompanies Caesar’s death: ‘ambition’s debt is paid’.
