In the stained glass folding screen Night Orchids, Brian Clarke develops on his drawings and leadworks which take on the subject. As he describes it, these works ‘are imaginings of coloured architectural experiences, huge walls of stained glass flickering with liquid colour, that sort of thing, a sort of harnessed euphoria’ (Brian Clarke in conversation with Robert Storr, Brian Clarke: Night Orchids, 2016).
