Don’t Forget the Lamb (Obverse) is an over two-metre-tall composition dating from 2012. Without precedent in stained glass, Clarke inverts the typical ratio of glass to lead in rose windows, emblems of the technical and artistic achievements of the Middle Ages.

Clarke arrived at this composition through studies on paper, tracing the rose’s outlines in calligraphic white pencil, while black paper stands for the areas that Clarke would figure in lead. The final design is presented in watercolour and collage works that capture the radiance of the glass petals.
