In 2015, in conjunction with the Royal Academy of Arts, Pace Gallery held an exhibition entitled A Strong Sweet Smell of Incense: A Portrait of Robert Fraser, curated by Brian Clarke, to celebrate the life and achievements of gallerist Robert Fraser. The exhibition aimed to capture the energy and spirit of Fraser, while also providing a historical context for his glamorous and avant-garde gallery programme. As Clarke stated in 2015, ‘The art world at the time was really tired. Nothing was really happening. But the feeling was, if anything was going to happen, it would be at 21 Cork Street’.
