In the exhibition Brian Clarke: Intimations of Mortality, held at Galerie Karsten Greve, Cologne in 1988, Brian Clarke presented his series of abstract paintings of the same name. These works investigate structure, geometry and colour, and the series is named after the poem by William Wordsworth from 1807, Ode: Intimations of Mortality.
