Paying homage to the renowned art dealer Robert Fraser, Clarke’s gallerist from 1981 until his death in 1985, the catalogue reproduces a selection of Clarke’s paintings from between 1977 and 1985. Varied in scope, they range from Clarke’s Punk paintings, which first attracted Fraser’s support, to works from the exhibition Brian Clarke: Paintings, which reopened Fraser’s gallery in 1983. Martin Harrison provides an introductory essay.
The second part of the catalogue produces a selection of paintings from two recent series exploring the forms of the ‘Spitfires’ and ‘Primroses’, with an introduction and poetry by Amanda Harrison.
