Brian Clarke’s stained glass screen World Without Beginning is discussed by Paul Greenhalgh in the 2020 catalogue Brian Clarke: The Art of Light, where he writes:
“In World Without Beginning, a colour field that moves from blues in the upper panels to blue-greens in the lower ones is as close to abstraction as the screens get, though the swirling turbulence of the whole is entirely natural in feel. The storm it evokes has the epic feel of J. M. W. Turner.”
This folding screen was produced with an innovative technique that eliminates the lead cames traditionally used to support and join stained glass, allowing the glass to interact freely with light and space. World Without Beginning exists in an edition of 10 unique variants plus 3 artist’s proofs, published by HENI.
