Brian Clarke’s Tune in, Turn on, Drop out is a stained glass folding screen featuring oak leaves set against a blue background. The work exists in multiple colour variants. Its title draws on a 1960s countercultural slogan. This sentence, first popularised by the writer and advocate of psychedelic drugs Timothy Leary, encouraged people to embrace cultural changes by detaching from traditional social conventions and hierarchies.
This folding screen was produced with an innovative technique that eliminates the lead cames traditionally used to support and join stained glass, allowing the glass to interact freely with light and space. Tune in, Turn on, Drop out exists in an edition of 10 unique variants plus 3 artist’s proofs, published by HENI.
