In 1982, Brian Clarke was commissioned to design five autonomous stained glass panels for installation at MPL Communications. The compositions are based on Clarke’s painting Tug of War, also part of the MPL collection, which featured on the cover of Paul McCartney’s album Tug of War and appeared in the music video for McCartney’s single Take It Away. These glass works translate and transform the painting’s grid and computergram motifs into glass in five different colour combinations.
