Swimmers Panel
1974
The Swimmers Panel was created by Brian Clarke in 1974 as one of his earliest autonomous stained glass artworks. It includes screen-printed glass panels depicting a black-and-white photographic image of swimmers, rendered through the use of Ben Day dots. The same motif also appears in Clarke’s Preston Minster Guild Window from the same year. In the Swimmers Panel, the motif was recontextualised as an independent composition.
