G2-26 The Dragon and the Beast
2022
In the stained glass screen The Dragon and the Beast, Brian Clarke draws from the Great East Window at York Minster. A central inspiration for Clarke since his first encounter with the cathedral in childhood, he joins the medieval apocalyptic scene with a contemporary one: newsprint that references the Covid-19 pandemic.
Due to new glass technology, this scene is allowed to extend across the screen without the support of the lead cames that typically join stained glass pieces.
