Chartres and Putzraum Windows
1983
Chartres and Putzraum are two reticular stained glass works created by Brian Clarke in 1983. Both compositions incorporate computergram elements, freely drawn calligraphic lead lines and amorphs in varying colours.
Putzraum was conceived for architectural integration within a German stained glass studio that collaborated with Clarke on the fabrication and assembly of his works. Chartres was realised for an exhibition of British glass at the Centre International du Vitrail in Chartres.
