In 1997, Brian Clarke developed a design proposal for the Essen headquarters of RWE AG, a German multinational energy company operating in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and the United States.

Clarke’s proposal encompassed the building’s façade, interiors and stained glass windows, featuring motifs inspired by electricity and its sources, including nuclear fission and wind energy.

The commission was ultimately not realised.
