Chek Lap Kok Airport
Chek Lap Kok Airport
1997
In 1997, Brian Clarke designed stained glass installations for the then under-construction Chek Lap Kok Airport, located on the island of Chek Lap Kok in western Hong Kong. The airport was completed in 1998 and is today one of the world’s busiest passenger hubs, featuring one of the largest terminal buildings globally, which held the record for size at the time of its opening. For this space, Clarke envisioned large-scale stained glass roundels with amorphs mounted in the ceiling, complemented by suspended, rectangular panels featuring linear elements. The project remains unrealised.
