‘Cherry Blossom’ paintings, 2014–2020

I love the way arid twigs suddenly explode with clouds of warm pink life in spring, and how the individual petals float through space and hint at some sort of paradise. When fallen petals blow in from the garden I don’t sweep them up right away, I let them stay where they land. I’ve been making paintings and stained glass of cherry blossom for five or six years now, and each time the season for them comes again it makes me want to keep going and going with the work.” – Brian, 2019.
