DESCRIPTION

America Square is a street and small square in London, located near Aldgate station, originally built in about 1760 and dedicated to the American colonies. The square was bombed in 1941, and is today occupied by offices, restaurants and gyms.

In 1991, Brian Clarke created an artwork for the entrance wall of 1 America Square, designed by architects Renton Howard Wood and Levin in 1988. He created an onyx and gilt mosaic and a stained glass panel, and backlit the integrated glass screen with cathode lights.
